Her story

Aparna Das is the founder of RCD Foundation. Her dedication to improving the lives of children suffering from Autism, Down’s Syndrome and ADHD is evident in the success of her foundation. RCFD owes its existance to a deep desire of her mother whose last wish was to create a safe haven for special children where they could not only feel included but also be trained to become self-reliant adults.

After graduating from Biswabharati in “theatre and Rabindra sangeet,” she initially embarked on a career path as an Assistant Director, fueled by a passion for art and culture. However, life took a different turn, leading her to pursue a B.Ed in 2001 and eventually join D.P.E.P. Little did she know that this would mark the beginning of her profound involvement in the field of special education.

Despite her initial aspirations, her role in the government sector left her with limited time to pursue her creative passions. However, fate had its own plans. She was deeply impacted by her mother’s dream of opening an institute for special kids. She concentrated all her efforts towards building an organisation for kids with Autism, Down’s syndrome and ADHD.

On April 1st, 2016, the RCD foundation was born. It was not merely an organisation but a manifestation of her mother’s deepest yearnings. Here, she pours in all the wisdom and experiences life has granted her to craft a nurturing environment for these children, a fitting tribute to her mother who unfortunately passed away before her dream saw the light of the day.

The R.C.D foundation isn’t just about education; it’s about holistic development. It has provided her with a precious opportunity to reconnect with her love for music and theatre, seamlessly integrating them into their therapeutic practices. This integration not only empowers the children to express themselves but also fosters a sense of inclusion, drawing parents into the journey alongside their children.

Today, RCD stands tall with three dedicated faculties, all comprising registered psychologists and psychiatrists recognized by RCI. But beyond the professional credentials, it’s the shared commitment and compassion that truly define her team. RCDF strives to create a world where every child, regardless of their challenges, can flourish and find their place in society.
